Named in honor of our Woodinville property, John’s enduring goal is to create a white wine of high quality for a great price. Like last year’s, the 2022 Bramble Bump White, is made from 100% semillon. This vintage features fruit sourced from two vineyards - Stillwater Creek Vineyard in the Royal Slope AVA & Artz Vineyard in the Red Mountain AVA. The 2022 BBW features floral aromas and uniquely semillon flavors like pear and lemon, making it quite the refreshing go-to in warm weather. Pair with good times with friends on a sunny patio alongside some delicious fish tacos…mmm! A great choice for summer brunches and picnics as well - enjoy.
Each Spring, John’s Sauvignon Blanc ushers in “patio season” and the promise of warm days soon to come, sharing great wine with great friends. The Columbia Valley Sauvignon Blanc blends fruit from Quintessence Vineyard on Red Mountain and Boushey Vineyards in the Yakima Valley AVA. The benefit of sourcing the same varietal from multiple growing regions is that John can craft a well-balanced wine, showcasing the very best of what each region and grower produces. We hope that you will join us soon at Bramble Bump or The Vault in Maltby to enjoy a glass of this crisp, refreshing crowd pleaser. The ’22 vintage possesses delicate citrus aromas, sweet and tart Washington green apple flavors, as well as tropical fruit flavors of mango. Cheers!
This 100% Grenache Blanc comes out of the esteemed Boushey Vineyard in Grandview, Washington. We picked this at the peak of ripeness providing flavors of lime and other citrus. This wine has refreshing crispness: perfect for a hot summer day. Fermented and aged in French oak (50% new, 50% used), there is a roundness and a subtle sweetness to the wine making it very drinkable.
A classic “Provence-style" rosé, the 2023 vintage of this JM favorite serves as our annual reminder that Spring has arrived and Summer will follow in no time! 100% Cinsault from Wallula Gap Vineyard creates a bright and tasty rosé perfect for all of life’s little everyday moments and grand celebrations. This rosé can be described as “perfectly peachy-pink” in hue. Delicate acidity and stony minerality refresh the palate and are characteristic of Cinsault from the breathtaking Wallula Gap Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills. Aromas and flavors of sweet strawberries and rhubarb delight the senses and pair well with classic seasonal dishes like copper river salmon, pasta primavera, grilled spring vegetables, or Peggy's favorite, a bowl of popcorn with a dash of salt and some EVOO (the good kind!).
John always knows he is on the right track with our Bramble Bump Red blend when Peggy tastes it early-on and tells him that it is as good as our Founders Reserve. Our 2021 BBR features Carménère from both Seven Hills Vineyard and our estate vineyard, Margaret's Vineyard. John and the winemaking team strove to make a wine that is rich, smooth and delicious that can be enjoyed right away (it will age nicely, but drink up and we think you will see why). This wine is considered Columbia Valley AVA because the grapes come from several sub apellations including Walla Walla, The Royal Slope, and Yakima Valley. The flavors are representative of the name of the wine; Brambly, dark fruit and a beautiful hint of black pepper from the Carménère. Enjoy!
2021 was another great vintage for Boushey Vineyard. Dick and Luanne Boushey grow some of the best fruit in the state, and their Clone 174 Syrah we have picked since 2008 is some of the best Syrah anywhere. We hand pick, hand sort, destem and ferment in large French oak vats. We pick Viognier out of Stillwater Creek Vineyard at the same time, and co-ferment 3% Viognier with the Syrah bringing out a beautiful aroma and solidifying the dark color of the Syrah (this is an enzymatic reaction between the Viognier white grapes and the Syrah red grapes). John asked our production team to taste and here is Amber Schmitt’s review: “The aroma of this wine brings forward notes of savory spices (thyme and rosemary) and violets. The wine is medium bodied, yet silky with a lengthy finish. Blackberry on the palate rounding out with dark chocolate shavings and notes of cured meats. A perfect bottle to enjoy around the fire.” Have fun and enjoy!
Longevity is perhaps one of JM’s most beloved wines and is often shared to honor a life, a marriage, or a treasured friendship. The name Longevity connotes many qualities that are true for this wine: it is age-worthy, it exhibits a long finish, and it has a history. The ‘21 vintage, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, features grapes sourced from Wallula Gap Vineyards (also called, The Benches) grown in a special block planted for JM Cellars called the Stiletto block. An example of a classically crafted WA Cab, this wine wows the palate with rich cherry and hints of blueberry. Clove spice adds depth and the tannin structure is both bold and smooth. It drinks beautifully now, and will continue to age well. If cellared for three to five years, it will reveal even more complex and rich flavors and aromas. It can easily age for 10+years. But why wait that long? Carpe Diem!
