Each harvest, John looks forward to working with fruit grown by Dick & Luanne Boushey, some of the nicest folks you’ll meet in the vineyards of the Yakima Valley. Premium fruit tended to with care and hard work by their vineyard crews translates into distinctive wines with an elegant “earthiness” that is quintessentially “Boushey”. Barrel fermenting and aging our 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Boushey Vineyard has allowed it time to evolve into a white wine with soft flavors of white peach and melon. A balance of predominately neutral French oak and thoughtfully monitored aging means this Sauvignon Blanc possesses delicate notes of jasmine and pear, a silky smooth transition from midpalate to finish, and a refreshing acidity. This style of Sauvignon Blanc pairs well with lighter meat dishes, poultry, herb-driven sauces, and Asian dishes.

Each harvest, trying to predict when we might pick our Grenache Blanc from Boushey Vineyards is a little like trying to predict the weather. Grenache Blanc is a variety that ripens “with attitude”, reminding us that you cannot rush a good thing and it’s ready when it’s good and ready! In 2024, the Grenache Blanc arrived on October 11th and was immediately pressed off skins, followed by barrel fermentation and aging in predominantly new French oak barrels. The crisp acidity of the 2024 Grenache Blanc allows it to maintain fresh citrus fruit and honeysuckle aromas and flavors when aged briefly (8 months) in oak. A well-rounded white wine, the 2024 Grenache Blanc pairs well with grilled seafood, shellfish, seasonal vegetable dishes, and salads.

Friendship. Devotion. Unwavering loyalty. This blend of Syrah and Mourvèdre is a loving tribute to Billy Bigelow, winery dog extraordinaire and faithful companion to the Bigelow family for more than 14 years. But it also reflects something deeper and just as meaningful: the quiet, steady loyalty of the JM Cellars community who has grown alongside this winery, vintage after vintage. Just like Billy never left John and Peggy’s sides, our wine club members have stood with us through harvests, new releases, and changing seasons, showing up year after year to share in what we create. The Loyal is our way of raising a glass to that kind of relationship, the kind built on trust, time, and shared moments. The steep slopes of Red Mountain, where long, hot summer days and cool nights shape bold, inky Syrah and spicy, fruit-forward Mourvèdre, delivered remarkable fruit in 2022. For a young vineyard to produce such exceptional grapes speaks to both the unique ridge-top terroir and the care and stewardship of Shaw Vineyards. Harvested on the same day, the two varieties were co-fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak. Syrah brings structure and age-worthy tannins, while Mourvèdre adds fresh bramble berry and black pepper, all carried by balanced acidity and layers of spiced plum, blueberry, and tobacco that are deeply satisfying right now. Pair with slow-roasted meats, grilled vegetables, or soft cheeses, and enjoy with the people and moments that remind you why loyalty, whether in a dog, a family, or a wine community, is something worth celebrating. 🐾🍷

Dick and Luanne Boushey grow some of the best fruit in Washington State and the 2022 vintage was no exception. Clone 174 Syrah, with origins in Hermitage in the Rhône Valley of France, was hand harvested and sorted, foot stomped, and fermented in large French oak tanks. In the Rhone tradition, we co-fermented the Syrah with 3% Viognier from Stillwater Creek Vineyard. The process of co-fermentation maximizes the dazzling fruit aromas and the dark purple hue of Syrah. The 2022 Boushey Syrah possesses luscious raspberry and blackberry notes from glass to finish. The earthy characteristics we admire in Boushey fruit are present throughout this well-structured wine that can be savored alongside dishes like herbed flatbreads, slow-roasted meats, and homemade pasta. Also to be enjoyed during fireside chats.

The 2023 “Cab III” combines the very best of three diverse vineyards and AVA’s, making a bold argument that Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon remains the cornerstone of our region’s winemaking legacy. Bold color, big blackberry flavor, spicy vanilla and mouth watering minerality- rounded out by solid, yet approachable, tannins evolve on the palate to create a “wow” factor. This wine will age beautifully for 15+years, but why wait? Crack it open now and enjoy it with your favorite burger, grilled steak, roasted root vegetables, and bold cheeses. Cin Cin!
